Leading figures have come forward to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation and institutional growth, directly supporting the nation’s economic underpinnings and advocating for investment and financial reforms. One of these noteworthy individuals is Mr. Salah bin Mohammed Al-Hareky.

Throughout his lengthy career, he has had a major influence on numerous of the nation’s largest financial and administrative institutions inside and outside the Kingdom.

Salah Al-Hareky’s Academic Career

Having graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, one of the top academic institutions in the area, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Business Administration, Professor Salah Al-Hareky has a distinguished academic background.

Moreover, he pursued specialised programmes at esteemed universities, such as the Oil Economics Programme in London, the Harvard University Executive Programme for General Management, and the Finance Programme at Indiana University, to further hone his leadership and financial skills.

In 1989, Prof. Al-Hareky started his career at Saudi Aramco, working in the finance divisions of Treasury and Internal Audit. He served as the Administrative Supervisor of the Finance and Investment Management Departments for more than 20 years, and then as the Director of the Treasury Services and Treasury Consulting Departments, in addition to other strategic roles.

As President of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Endowment, he also held a significant position, which reflected his varied background in academia and finance. He relocated to the UK in 2013 to take over as Managing Director of Saudi Overseas Petroleum Company Ltd.

Contributing to SABIC’s Growth

Before being hired as the Executive Vice President of Finance at SABIC, one of the biggest chemical companies in the world, he returned to the centre of the Saudi financial scene after years of working abroad. In 2022, he became Saudi Aramco’s vice president and treasurer.

Furthermore, Mr. Al-Hareky is an executive and a member of several boards of directors. He is a member of the boards of directors of Aramco Trading Company, S-Oil Company, and Saudi Aramco Development Company (SADCO) in addition to serving as Vice Chairman of the board of directors of Wasaya Global Investment Organisation. These partnerships show that significant economic players trust his knowledge and strategic vision.
