1.4 Million Tourists Search for Beauty Amid the Clouds in Asir

During the Saudi Summer Season 2025, the Asir region topped the list of the Kingdom’s most appealing summer destinations, thanks to a record visitor turnout of 1.4 Million Tourists, due to its moderate climate, compelling environment, and rich cultural and entertainment options.

Likewise, with fog and sporadic rain, Asir’s cities—especially Abha and its suburbs—have recently become a platform for cultural events, artistic performances, and mountain activities, making summer a popular time of year for adventurers and leisure travellers alike.

The Rijal Almaa Cultural Festival, which celebrated popular heritage through folkloric performances and heritage fairs, was one of the most notable events.

Thrills for Adventure Seekers

The Al-Soudah Festival, renowned for its paragliding, mountain trekking, and camping options, drew mountain enthusiasts, while the Fog Festival at Fog Park, which attracted contemplative people and nature lovers, appeared on social media quite a bit.

In addition to creative workshops and plays for families and kids, Abha’s nights are graced with musical and artistic performances by Gulf and Arab singing talents, adding to the variety of the travel experience.

Infrastructure development activities have enhanced the region’s appeal by introducing tourist routes that cater to visitors’ needs, extending the road network, and opening new hotel developments. Tourism has also increased thanks to Abha International Airport’s expansion of direct flights from major cities and Gulf countries.

Official data indicates that in June and July 2025, 1.4 million tourists visited Asir, showcasing the city’s sustainability initiatives as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its growing prominence as a major national tourist destination.

In late July, the Asir Mountains, where clouds meet the summits, continue to be charming due to moderate weather and light rain. The scent of the breeze and the sounds of the rain create lovely memories. Notably, the Asir region occupies 80,000 km2, or roughly 4.1% of Saudi Arabia’s total size, and sits in the southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. There are eighteen governorates in the region.

An online platform called “Discover Asir” emerged to facilitate easier exploration of the area for tourists. It offers a thorough interactive map of the area’s most popular tourist attractions and locations. The map features historical sites, cultural centres, parks, tourist farms, marketplaces, entertainment centres, camping spots, caravans, restaurants, and accommodations, serving as a digital guide for tourists planning their trips.
