The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques holds the central duty of serving pilgrims and visitors during Hajj and Umrah. It oversees and coordinates a wide range of services designed to ease the performance of rituals and ensure a welcoming, safe environment for all.

Its initiatives span infrastructure development, enhanced cleanliness across the Two Holy Mosques, advanced technical and logistical support, and strengthened security and safety measures. Through these ongoing efforts, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirms its commitment to providing pilgrims to the Sacred House of God with the highest standards of spiritual and human experience.

According to the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, 68.7 million people visited the Two Holy Mosques in Jumada al-Thani 1447 AH, up 2.1 million from the previous month.

The Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) had about 30 million worshippers, the Hijr (Al-Hatim) had 94,700, the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) had 23.1 million, and the Rawdah ash-Sharifah (the space between the Prophet’s tomb and his pulpit) had 1.3 million. In addition, 2.3 million individuals honoured the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his two companions.

Additionally, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques emphasised that Umrah took 117 minutes on average during the month of Jumada al-Thani. On the ground floor, 64% of pilgrims conducted Sa’i, the ceremonial walking between Safa and Marwa, while 94% of pilgrims performed Tawaf, the circumambulation of the Kaaba.

During the same month, the authorities indicated that the circumambulation took 46 minutes, the Sa’i took 51 minutes, and it took 10 minutes to get from the courtyards to the Mataf and from the Mataf to the Sa’i.

The Two Holy Mosques: Work & Recognition

The Saudi Customer Experience Award (SCXA) Bronze Award for the General Presidency for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques’ “Exit from the Hajj” programme, which has benefited millions of Umrah pilgrims, is just one of the many accolades the organisation has recently received for its creative efforts.

Likewise, it won the Best Digital Initiative Award for its “Unified Mobility Gateway” project and Best Pavilion at the Hajj 2025 Exhibition. These honours are a reflection of the Presidency’s efforts to improve services for Grand Mosque visitors and undergo digital transformation.

These initiatives correspond with a rise in global pilgrims undertaking Hajj and Umrah, necessitating the presidency to ensure their security and comfort. The quality of services reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to upholding the sacred sites and promotes a favourable image of the Kingdom both domestically and internationally.

These initiatives further strengthen the Kingdom’s leadership role in supporting the Two Holy Mosques and solidify its status as the centre of Islam.

Years of Consistent Work have Led to a Notable Increase

The Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Hajj, Umrah, and visitation system, aligned with Vision 2030, have notably increased the number of Umrah pilgrims. Key initiatives include strengthening digital services for travel and registration, developing various transportation and reception services, and improving infrastructure to facilitate easier access for millions of Muslims to the Two Holy Mosques.

Furthermore, from the time the pilgrims start organising their journey through every phase of the pilgrimage until their safe and tranquil departure from the Kingdom, the relevant authorities are paying particular attention to providing a comprehensive spiritual experience that is centred on their comfort and safety.

These initiatives include implementing the strictest health and safety regulations, providing direction and logistical support, ensuring that sacred locations have all the necessary amenities, and utilising the latest technology to monitor and control the movement of people.

All of these actions demonstrate the Kingdom’s desire to offer pilgrims an ideal and sacred setting that increases their spiritual and moral benefits and solidifies its status as the world’s premier hub for welcoming God’s guests and fulfilling their desires.
