Diriyah Biennale: April Cultural Launch & Artistic Events
The Diriyah Biennale is returning in April with an array of cultural activities and programmes meant to enhance the artistic and cultural landscape of the Kingdom. This year’s Biennale offers a wide schedule of art exhibitions, workshops, and talks, attracting innovators and culture fans from all across the country.
Besides, it reinforces its position as a pioneering platform that combines tradition and contemporary, creating new opportunities for cultural and creative exchange.
Diriyah Biennial: Cultural Programmes
As part of the third edition of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennial, which takes place in the Jax neighbourhood of Diriyah and runs through May 2, the Diriyah Biennial Foundation announced a full range of cultural events for April 2026. Moreover, the Foundation’s dedication to increasing cultural engagement and providing a programme reflects an artistic experience that extends beyond traditional exhibitions.
The “Research Space” forum will return for its second edition, “Guardians of Time: Archives in Transition,” from April 22 to 25, with the involvement of a select group of artists and researchers.
Likewise, the Dark Room Amman team’s three-day masterclass “Transient Selves: Archiving Movement and Image” is the most notable of the programme’s specialised courses. The goal of this masterclass is to revitalise personal archives through stop-motion methods and turn them into modern visual pieces.

Diriyah Biennale: Archives and Art
The Diriyah Biennale’s April cultural programme features many noteworthy events that connect archives to everyday life through panel discussions, workshops, film screenings, and interactive activities. In addition to these events, offered in collaboration with specialised organisations and projects, will culminate in special screenings that emphasise the role of archives in the Biennale experience.
Tamer El-Sayed, director and artist, will lead a masterclass titled “In the Presence of Absence,” which will look at the creative and ethical aspects of archives, as well as how personal archives may be transformed into works of art with significant human importance. In addition, the Biennale is partnering with Christie’s to provide a masterclass titled “Contemporary Art in the Middle East: On Culture and Value.”
International specialists will analyse the region’s art scene and cultural economy through lectures and field excursions to the Jaxx Studios. Don’t miss “Cinema Nights,” which takes place throughout April in collaboration with the Red Sea Film Festival and features a variety of short films that bring visual and cultural richness to the visitor experience.
