Highlights of the Announced List
The list contains international venues offering cutting-edge experiences such as food and beverage tastings, industrial and agricultural tours, cooking lessons, craft activities, food trails, marketplaces, and festivals.
A global non-profit organisation, the International Institute of Culinary Arts, Culture, Arts, and Tourism (IGCAT) originated in 2012. By preserving and promoting culinary and cultural legacy, it aims to empower local people and support balanced development and sustainable tourism.
Moreover, the list includes interactive platforms that focus on integrated sensory experiences. In addition to opportunities to meet local and international chefs to share experiences and views, visitors can take part in special courses covering advanced culinary methods and flavour analysis. Additionally, several platforms offer field tours to illustrate how vital ingredients are made, from old manufacturing methods to the cultivation of herbs and spices.
Culturally speaking, these platforms hold events highlighting handicrafts that are closely linked to culinary traditions, such as making traditional utensils and decorating dishes. Likewise, these experiences extend beyond individual levels and include activities and initiatives aimed at both locals and tourists, encouraging cross-cultural communication and exchange and offering a chance to gain a better comprehension of the connections between food and cultural identity.
On March 19, Kvarner Bay, the designated European Region for Culinary Arts for 2026, hosted an official ceremony in Opatija, western Croatia, when the list emerged.

“Best Foodie Spots” Boosts Global Visibility
The International Institute of Culinary Arts, Culture, Arts, and Tourism (IICT) launched the “Best Foodie Spots” campaign every year to showcase outstanding culinary experiences across the world and offer specialised platforms with a worldwide reach. Additionally, the programme aims to assist small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the food industry, promoting economic expansion and the development of distinctive culinary experiences across cultural boundaries.
Part of this exciting project is the ‘Discover Asir’ platform, which represents the Aseer Region Development Authority’s goal of making the area a year-round international travel destination. To provide a complete experience that blends tourism and food, this concept depends on making the best use of Aseer’s breathtaking natural characteristics and rich cultural diversity.
