The Mega Battery Project is the leading platform for utility-scale battery storage, BESS integration, electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructures, and the future of energy resiliency in the MENA area. Moreover, energy storage has evolved from a supporting role to a crucial infrastructure investment as governments and private sector organisations around the region, particularly in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, seek renewable energy ambitions for 2030 and 2050. Innovative initiatives like Saudi Arabia's biggest grid-scale battery energy storage project are redefining global energy storage standards, which began in February 2025 and is now underway. Likewise, the project, spearheaded by BYD Energy Storage in collaboration with the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), would install 12.5 GWh of advanced BESS in a number of key locations, expanding on a prior 2.6 GWh deployment to reach a total capacity of 15.1 GWh.
