Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran is a Saudi journalist who has been the chairman of the Saudi News Agency "SPA" since 2021.

Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran is a Saudi journalist who has been the chairman of the Saudi News Agency “SPA” since 2021. He also leads the media team that represents the Ministry of Media in Saudi Vision 2030.

He received the King Abdulaziz Medal, second class, in 1442 AH/2021 AD.

Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran’s Background and Level of Education

Born in 1963, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering, then obtained a doctorate in business administration, specializing in administrative leadership.

His Professional Life and Roles

From 1991 to 1999, he held several jobs within the Savola Group. In addition, he served as the Al-Madina newspaper’s chief editor since 2002 and as a director on the board of the Al-Madina Foundation for Press and Publishing.

He had positions as a professor in marketing and advertising at the British University of Sunderland and as a faculty member in the College of Business Administration. He also taught in the Department of Media under the College of Arts and Humanities at King Abdulaziz University.

Furthermore, he served as the Minister of Media’s advisor from 2019 to 2021, and in 2022 he received the election to be the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) President.

Memberships and Committees

He served as chair of many committees and had memberships in others, such as:

  • Membership in the consultative committee of the Jeddah Municipality.
  • Membership in the Saudi International Chamber of Commerce.
  • Membership in the Saudi Media and Communication Society.

Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran joined King Abdulaziz University’s College of Economics and Administration Advisory Committee in 2011. The following year, he joined the College of Sciences and Humanities Supreme Advisory Board. Additionally, he became Chairman of the Saudi Journalists Association’s Executive Committee and a member of the Gulf Press Union’s Board of Directors.

He became Vice Chairman of the Saudi Journalists Association’s Board of Directors, led the Supreme Media Committee for the Islamic, Arab, and Gulf summits in Mecca, and served as the G20 Media Committee’s secretariat.

In 2019, he became head of the Saudi Press Agency’s Development Committee and was elected to the Board of Directors as “among those with opinion and expertise.”

Additionally, he was designated as a delegate of the Ministry of Media in 2021 to serve on the Quality-of-Life Programme Committee, which is one of the programmes to realise Saudi Vision 2030.

In 2022, he led the General Assembly of Islamic and Arab News Agencies “UNA” and served on the Jeddah Development Company’s Board of Directors as the Ministry of Media’s representative.
