UK Tops Foreign Investors in Egypt 2020

There was a 26.4% increase in the volume of Foreign Investors in Egypt , amounting to $15.8 bn in 2019/2020, compared to $ 12.5 bn in 2015/2016.

According to Egypt’s Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center, Britain ranked first for investment amounting to $4.8 bn, followed by the UAE with $1.6 billion, and then Belgium with investments estimated at $1.5 bn during 2019/2020.

The United States ranked fourth place with $1.4 bn investments during 2019/2020, and the Netherlands occupied fifth place with a total of $1.2 bn during 2019/2020.

Qatar occupied sixth place with investments amounting to $700 m.

Italy came seventh with a total of $600, followed by Saudi Arabia with $400m, and then Kuwait with $300m investments. 1

The British investment inflows to Egypt have fluctuated over the past six years, where fewer inflows were recorded in 2017/2018 to rise again in 2018/2019, recording $6.4 bn dollars.

However, despite recording $4.8 billion in 2019-2020, it is still the highest globally.

The UAE was the highest in the Arab world in the volume of its inflows to Egypt. They rose again, reaching $ 1.6 billion, after recording $0.8 billion in 2016/2017.

In addition, the oil sector accounted for 49 percent of all foreign direct investments in Egypt in 2019/2020.
