VIRGIN IZAKAYA, modern, izakaya-style restaurant and bar situated in the bustling Bluewaters Island will be unveiling a distinctive new dining experience – the Art of Cutting. The unique culinary event offers diners the chance to learn about traditional Japanese techniques of cutting fish and try something they have never had before.

 

In Japan, carefully cutting slices of fresh fish is considered a culinary art, and Japanese cutting techniques are very different to those used elsewhere around the world. The skilful use of the knife is one of the most prominent features in Japanese cuisine and the mastery of various cutting techniques is an essential skill to Japanese chefs.

On April 21st, Virgin Izakaya will host a special one-off event focusing on the Japanese art of cutting fish, where guests will have the unique opportunity to learn first-hand from the restaurant’s expert culinary team about the art of cutting and slicing. During the event, Virgin Izakaya will be serving a specially curated menu featuring dishes prepared from freshly cut Bluefin Tuna, including Sashimi, Sushi, Tataki, Ceviche, Open and Hand Rolls, as well as Tuna Tacos and Tartare.

At Virgin Izakaya, authentic Japanese elements are given a fresh look, combining traditional techniques with a contemporary creative approach. The traditional robata grill is at the heart of the restaurant giving center stage to the chefs creating dishes, where guests get to watch their culinary desires prepared directly in front of them.
