Madinah 2025 represents a rebirth of development and progress, highlighting the city's fascinating past and remarkable achievements in 2025.

Madinah 2025 is still welcoming the rebirth of growth and advancement that it started when the vision was created in 2016. The city is experiencing incredible development and observable accomplishments in 2025, which capture the essence of a city rich in history and reviving through progress.

As a bridge that overlooks the modernity of the future while capturing the scent of the past, the emphasis is on its beauty.

The city seeks to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 by meaningfully combining modernisation with traditional practices. This city consistently proclaims that it is ready to take on obstacles and work towards a better future. At the moment, Madinah is working on 213 significant development projects with a combined estimated value of 210 billion riyals.

Boosting Madinah’s Economic Sectors by 2025

According to the region’s chamber’s May economic report for the first quarter of last year, the goal of these initiatives is to enhance infrastructure and assist economic sectors in achieving the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

Construction, real estate, manufacturing, wholesale and retail, transportation and logistics, tourism, and other economic sectors will all benefit from these projects. Moreover, major development initiatives like road rehabilitation, street and square humanisation, public park development, infrastructure development, and green space expansion are all part of the Madinah Renaissance 2025.

In addition, these projects include the execution of various housing-related investment projects, the enhancement of hospitality and lodging services, commercial, tourism, entertainment, urban, and cultural projects; and—above all—the development and restoration of historic sites so that tourists can access them and enhance their experience.

Number of Citywide Projects & Opportunities Announced

There are about 213 projects underway in the city, comprising 188 private projects, 10 semi-government projects, and 15 government projects. Given that major projects have an investment area of over 15 million square metres, which indicates significant urban and investment expansion in the region, the economy will reflect the magnitude of these projects and their positive impacts.

According to data released, the number of job openings anticipated to be created has increased to about 119,200, which will help to lower unemployment rates and boost the labour market. Announced data indicates that there are plans to build over 50,000 hotel rooms, expanding the area’s capacity for pilgrims and tourists.

Many public and private organisations, including the Madinah Region Development Authority, the Madinah Ru’ya Holding Company, a division of the Saudi Investment Fund, the Madinah Region Municipality’s investment arm, the Al-Maqar Company, the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, and others, are also helping to carry out these significant projects.

However, with roughly 153 projects, the commercial sector had the most, followed by the residential and commercial sectors with 27 projects, the health sector with 11, the education sector with 7, the tourism sector with 5 projects, and the religious sector with 5 projects.

Transportation & Logistics Sector Growth in Madinah’s First Quarter of 2025

The Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s sector report for the first quarter of 2025 states that rising demand for logistics services and smart transport contributed to the region’s transport and logistics sector’s accelerated growth. This occurred in the first quarter of this year.

According to the report, the number of road infrastructure projects increased significantly, with 12 major projects scheduled for completion between 2023 and 2024 and a total investment of more than 1.6 billion riyals. In 2024, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport handled about 10 million passengers, according to the report, proving its critical role in promoting religious tourism and easing the flow of pilgrims and Umrah performers between Medina and Mecca.

Along with greater investment in intelligent transportation and technology solutions for the Hajj and Umrah, initiatives to support supply chains, warehousing, and logistics centres have helped to increase e-commerce in the area. For its part, the Madinah Chamber of Commerce extended an invitation to interested parties and investment organisations to examine the first quarter 2025 sector report.

It had previously published a report on the relative factory distribution by activity in the area. The report revealed that the non-metallic mineral sector employs 34.9% of factories. 15.1% produce food products, 14.5% produce rubber products, 13.4% produce chemicals, 8.6% produce metal products, 6.2% produce beverages, 4.6% produce basic metals, and 2.7% produce paper and paper products in Madinah.

In summary, Medina’s importance to the Saudi national economy stems from several factors, including its religious significance and the popularity of religious tourism, as well as the extensive development projects that have been and are being carried out there. These have greatly increased the economy’s capacity for production and diversified its resources.

Madinah 2025 represents a rebirth of development and progress, highlighting the city's fascinating past and remarkable achievements in 2025.
