Under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the SME General Authority (Monsha’at) is hosting the “Reboot, Rethink, Regenerate” Global Entrepreneurship Congress.

The event will take place from March 27 to 30, 2022, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, with the support of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN).

Why Riyadh?

GEN chose Riyadh to host the congress because, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, the Kingdom ranked first out of 45 countries in the following categories: Good opportunities to start a business, ease of starting an enterprise, business response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and government response to the pandemic, as the network is keen to choose cities that witness intense activity in the entrepreneurial environment.

On the other hand, KSA ranked first for four sub-indicators, in addition to achieving advanced ranks in 6 other indicators, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Index, monitored by the National Center for Performance Management (ADAA), which measures the extent of different levels of entrepreneurship motivation and its activity in the world.

According to ADAA, the Kingdom’s progress in international indicators of entrepreneurship included second place in both the “personal possession of skills and knowledge” indicator and the “infrastructure” indicator, which is concerned with easy access to roads and airports, as well as utilities, such as electricity, Internet, etc., and their accessibility by entrepreneurs.

The Kingdom also ranked third: outranking 42 countries in the two indicators: “Ease of obtaining financing for companies and entrepreneurs” and “Ease of entry and market dynamics”; The latter measures the extent of free, open, and growing markets. It also ranked fourth globally in the two indicators: “government support for business” and “lack of barriers and ease of regulations for access to markets” among 45 countries.

Entrepreneurs from 180 Countries

The GEC will witness the attendance of entrepreneurs, investors, experts, and decision-makers from 180 countries to discuss the economic challenges facing the global entrepreneurship environment, exchange experiences, and seize investment opportunities during the next stage, in addition to learning lessons from the challenges that the world faced during the (COVID-19) pandemic.

The GEC is an ideal opportunity for entrepreneurs to understand the dimensions of the next stage, absorb the lessons presented by the global pandemic, learn about best practices in dealing with crises, maintain the flexibility and continuity of commercial activities, and creative exchange ideas between entrepreneurs and innovators from around the world.

The GEC will host more than 150 speakers, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Netflix co-founder Mark Randolph, as well as many innovation and entrepreneurship professionals who will be distributed over 100 discussion sessions.

The congress includes an accompanying exhibition, workshops, and innovation sections. It provides an important opportunity for policymakers to listen to entrepreneurs and understand the challenges they face, thus contributing to the formulation of a more sustainable and resilient unified global entrepreneurial environment, in addition to providing the opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet with their counterparts from around the world and benefit from their experiences, and listen to the essential global experts in this field.
