Congestion Factors

Many factors contribute to congestion at international airports, such as:

  • Global economic growth: Growing economies around the world stimulate travel demand, which in turn boosts air traffic.
  • Improvement in travelling conditions: More people are taking flights as a result of improvements in flying conditions, such as fewer ticket costs and more flights.
  • Expansion of airline networks: As a result of several airlines’ network expansions, there are now more flights available to new destinations.

The Pandemic’s Effects

In 2020 and 2021, the Corona pandemic had a significant impact on air travel, resulting in a precipitous drop in air traffic at international airports.

However, air traffic started to rebound in 2022 and will keep rebounding in 2023.

Air traffic is expected to increase further in the coming years as a result of the aforementioned factors.
