729,000 Women-Led Businesses: Saudi Arabia’s View of Women

Saudi women are achieving a new level of success in the Saudi Arabian economy, reflecting the objectives of Vision 2030, which aims to empower Saudi women. By the end of the third quarter of 2025, the number of commercial registrations for Saudi women had grown to nearly 729,269 businesses, marking a new record of 42.29% growth in just two years.

Local reports state that Saudi women now own 43.36% of all Saudi businesses, with 297 new businesses opening every day. This illustrates the key economic role that women have secured in Saudi Arabia’s aspirational quest for global leadership.

Likewise, Saudi women’s economic presence has surpassed mere numbers, extending into the quality and scale of their contributions. Large enterprises owned by Saudi women recorded a remarkable 151% growth, alongside a diversified investment portfolio spanning 88 sectors. Leading these activities is the building construction sector, which ranked first among all investment fields.

This achievement is the outcome of numerous government initiatives and support that have directly improved women’s status in accordance with the 2030 objectives. In addition to offering packages of government incentives that promote sustainability and innovation and help achieve overall success, these include establishing a flexible investment environment that enables the development of a business registration within 180 seconds.

From Participation to Leadership

Saudi women have evolved from contributing members to important forces behind economic activity. The drastic evolution of their role over the years is an example of this. Women’s commercial registrations grew at a record rate of 112% between 2015 and 2021.

Real Challenges

Even though women have made great strides in the Saudi economy overall and in entrepreneurship specifically (78% of women want to launch their own enterprises, according to the most recent studies), they still confront a number of obstacles that prevent sustainability. The Trust Gap
